 It was in 1862 when 28-year-old Hiram enlisted with his brother-in-law, Andrew Foot, aged 34 (Andrew was the husband of Margaret, child number 4). Hiram returned home three years later; Andrew did not. 

Sarah Ann Billings married Hiram Hudson on March 25, 1873 in Allegan, Michigan.
