Great-grandfather of June Force

Pvt   13th MI Light Artillery Battery
Dates of Service:  5 Oct 1863 - 1 Jul 1865

 

James Stewart Irwin was born on July 1, 1846, in New York to Thomas (1811-1906)  Lucinda (Weller) Irwin (1814-1884).

 

He enlisted in the Michigan 13th Light Artillery Battery on October 23, 1863 at Keene, Michigan and mustered out on July 1, 1865 at Jackson, Michigan.

 

James married Olive Ann Carpenter on July 31, 1869, in Pierson, Michigan. They had 15 children in 28 years.

 

He died on May 24, 1910, in Mecosta, Michigan, at the age of 63, and was buried in Morley, Michigan.
