William O. Sible

3rd great-grandfather of Aryelle Paige Sible

Dates of Service:  11 Aug 1862 - 12 July 1865

 

William O. Sible was born November 1, 1829, in New York, the 2nd oldest of 9 children to Solomon and Anna (Taylor) Sible. He married Mary Jane Aldrich, the daughter of Arcturus and Catherine (Artlip) Aldrich, in 1854. They had 11 children in 31 years. 

 

By 1860 William and his young family had moved along with his parents and quite a few extended family and neighbors from Williamson, Wayne Co., New York to Berlin, Ionia Co., Michigan, where they all farmed. On August 11, 1862, William enlisted in Co. E 25th Michigan Infantry for 3 years, and mustered in September 11, 1862. I 244th Battalion, Veteran Reserve Corps. Discharged at Knoxville, Tennessee, July 12, 1865.

 

Following the war, William farmed in Berlin. He was a member of the Hiel P. Clark Post 153 GAR.  William died on February 10, 1902, at the age of 72, and was buried in Saranac, Michigan.
